Roy and Loretta had 3 children and their son William (Bill) and his wife Helen and 6 children bought the house from them in 1948. Roy and Loretta continued to live in their home until their deaths in 1959. Bill and Helen had 4 more children and when their 10th child was three, Helen returned to her profession as a school teacher. Bill was an electrician and plumber and, he served as a Halifax County Councillor. In later years Bill ran his insurance office out of the “sun porch”, which is now the dining room. Bill and Helen continued to live in their home until their deaths, Helen in 2001 and Bill in 2005.
Dr. Brad Atkinson, from New Brunswick, and his wife Meryl, from Wales, purchased the property from the Henley family in 2008, and with love and respect, fully renovated the home to The Henley House Pub and Restaurant. The halls of The Henley House are lined with authentic family photos, favourites of Mrs. Henley’s, and many artifacts came from the original “R.B’s General Store” and “The East Inn”.
“I had a great lunch here while passing through Sheet Harbour. The fish and chips were delicious as was their Billy Burger. Good portion sizes and fair prices. The view from the back patio was an added bonus!”

One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in rural Nova Scotia.”
“My husband and I had a great meal here while staying in Sheet Harbour. The staff are very knowledgeable about the various beers and wine of NS. Hellfire beer was excellent. Our meals were fabulous – smoked haddock fish cakes, and battered clams. Dinner buns are made in-house…. to die for !! I would definitely visit again.”
